Diflucan is a patent name for the generic fluconazole, which is a type of antifungal and antibiotic drug used in treating infections. Such infections may be caused by certain fungi that invade the body through the mouth, throat, esophagus, lungs, bladder, genitals, and into the bloodstream. Branded Diflucan or generic fluconazole is also used as treatment for people who have weak immune systems that can be caused by factors including cancer treatment, sexually transmitted diseases or infections, bone marrow transplant, and others.
In contrast to suppositories and vaginal creams, Diflucan works by penetrating deep into the tissues surrounding the vaginal wall. One dose of Diflucan will remain in the tissue for three days of treating the infection. A single 150 capsule of Diflucan consists of the active ingredient fluconazole used in treating infections caused by fungi and yeast. Diflucan is also used for medication of vaginal thrush or treating penis thrush in men.
The dosage for Generic Diflucan will have to depend on the type of infection that needs treatment. Often, vaginal infections can be treated with just one pill while others may require double dose. - Severe blister, peel, or red rash in the skin
- Easily get bruised or bleed
- Convulsions or seizure
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea or upset stomach
- Headache or dizziness
- Unusual or even unpleasant taste in the mouth

Before taking the medication, be sure to discuss with your doctor some things critical to your treatment. You may need to take necessary precaution or dosage adjustments in order to safely administer Diflucan into your body. Inform your doctor if you have:
- Liver disease
- Kidney disease
- Heart rhythm disorder such as arrythmia
- Family history of long QT syndrome

What Should I Avoid While Taking Generic Diflucan?
On the things that you should avoid while taking Diflucan medication, make sure to follow loyally the instructions of your doctor such as restrictions on food, beverage, activity, etc., while taking Diflucan. Do not use the drug if you have/are:
- Allergic to azole antifungal medicines like ketoconazole and itraconazole
- Pregnant and breast-feeds
- Rare hereditary problems concerning galactose intolerance or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
You should also avoid taking Diflucan or other similar drugs including:
- sertaconazole (Ertaczo)
- clotrimazole (Lotrimin)
- ketoconazole (Nizoral)
- voriconazole (Vfend)
- miconazole (Monistat)
- econazole (Spectazole)
- sulconazole (Exelderm)
- terconazole (Terazol)
- tioconazole (Vagistat-1)
Diflucan should not be taken with cisapride (Propulsid). Diflucan should also be avoided if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have allergies before actually taking this medicine.
